Many people talk about religion as if they talk about someone, any one; some times their words are completely away from any kind of respect. Those people aim to separate religion from the inner affairs of the state. They refuse any relation between science and religion. They also refuse being the religion a criterion for evaluation some issues in life, they even denied and disdained the existence of religion and its principles. We can notice that those people have some mutual characteristics, which are narrow-mind, insurrection, and doubtfulness.

Religion is the law of life, it is the Divine constitution. It contains the principles and rules that lead to the perfect life. It is the map that enables you to live and deeply understand life without mistakes or being lost in the very different and numerous life issues. There are some rules that prevent any one to make any objection or even a comment on a judicial sentence, but I wonder why there is no rule that prevent these objections on the rules of the religion?

I really don't know the reasons behind their strict refusal for religion. May be because that religion, apparently whatever its motifs, has some rules, orders, and interdictions that people should obey. On the other side; the nature of man aims to freedom and insurrection, this nature is clearer in the teenager who refuse to listen to any kind of advice or commandment even from his dear parents.

Or the reason may be behind some social or political forces that work on defaming religion in purpose to achieve some goals that, in their point of view, religion stands in their way. Or the reason may be the lack of knowledge about the nature of religion and its role in the society. All these reasons caused the current wrong idea about religion, criticism, and accusations of religion claiming that it is the main responsible for the social and economic underdevelopment.

The Arab mess media means has an important role in the defamation of the religious people. They represented them in a very bad way; they represented them as the example of extravagant and as people who have no idea about fashion or technology. It even some times turned to be a satire. Lets have a look on how the religious people and the legists were represented in the old movies, we will be surprised for having these movies the leading role in the process of defamation of Islam and spreading the idea of being the religious people narrow-minded who don't know any thing about fashion or technology.

Or the reason may be keeping religion away from every thing in our life. We kept religion away from education, work, the mass media. We refused to televise programs about religion. We refused to employ veiled girls claiming that we should be civilized. All these factors contributed in separation of religion away from reality. Religion turned to be a mere traditional activity that no more has its effect on our souls, alas. In the past times, the religion institutions, like Al-Azhar for example, were the source of the religion culture and were working mainly on spreading the religion principles and rules. It also was working on sending scholarships to all over the world to call for Islam and spreading its principles and ethics. It used to act and react with all life activities, whatever these activities were political or social. Now it, Al-Azhar, turned to be just a university like any kind of universities whose final goal is to give certificates.

Nowadays, Islam became a matter that can be easily discussed in the different TV shows. Also there are many different kinds of discussions that are about Islam, which can easily without respect, talk about the rules and commandment of Islam. The result was this huge number of deliverances of religion advisory opinions which were odd some times and funny other times. They also sometimes caused satire. These factors decreased the high dignity of religion and its great respect.

Some times I wonder, are the religious people themselves a reason of this bad idea about Islam? Some times they are, they ban some activities considering them as not allowed in Islam like the practice of sport for girls, using internet, straightening the hair, prostration in the play grounds; like what the Muslim players do when they win a match as a way to thank God for helping them to record a goal, and many other simple things that made people, Muslim people, confused, they make them don't know what they should do and they shouldn't.

The international defamation of Islam that was practiced during the last three decades has an important role in making the relation between people and religion such fogy. During these years, some Muslim extravagant groups had appeared. These groups strongly believed that the community, at this time, was a vulgar one. The activity of these groups was mainly concentrated on killing some politicians, working on totally overturn the ruling system of the state. They kidnapped and assassinated many important people, the most important and dangerous one was the assassination of the Egyptian ex-president Al-Sadat.

These activities were meant to defame Islam and create the idea of being the Muslim terrorist in the mind of people. They misrepresented the religious Muslims all over the world. They represented the Muslims as a group of people who has an unjustified enmity towards the community they live in.

When the government tried to solve this serious problem at this time, their solution was not a definite one. They didn't make any difference between the true Muslims and the extravagant sects. Any religious Muslim was suspected, even the beard, which was kept as a Sunna of the prophet, was a sign of being religious; which means that the bearded men are suspected. And this strong action of the government against the religious Muslims caused two different reactions of the religious people. The first group turned to be more extravagant and insisted on their situation. The second group was so much scared of being suspected all the time and as a result they had to appear as normal people, they shaved their beards and wore fashioned clothes.

Also there were some religious groups that were accused of being against the government. This accusation and the counteractive situation towards these groups made the government suspect more and more all the religious people in general. Also there is a connection between all the extravagant groups, they all have a mutual goal; to rule, and the government only have the right to rule, so the desire to rule was another factor that increased the enmity between the government and the groups, which, as a result, helped the defamation of Islam and the religious people in general.

During the last ten years, some terrible actions had happened in 11th September. These actions were committed by Muslims people. This made the situation worse as it helped in the defamation of Islam. And as a result, in many western countries, the Muslim was always suspected.

People deal with religion without understanding and knowledge. This lack of knowledge, the misunderstanding, and also this current defamation; all were different elements that finally result in this bad idea that most people have about Islam and the way that talks about its affairs

The inner and the foreign affairs were affected by these events. The religious people were more criticized than before, the educational institutions prevented the veiled girls from attending their lectures, and also the veiled girls were prevented from working in mass media means. Some secular sects called for the separation between the religion and the different affairs of the state. It became more serious when some people tried to discuss the second term of the Egyptian constitution which tells that Islam is the official religion in Egypt, and so its rules, the Islamic Sharia, are the main source of legislation. Those people called for canceling this term from the constitution.

These suspicions about the religious people extend to the political parties. The political parties which were formed upon a religion base were refused. Also the group of Al-ekhwan Al-muslimeen in Egypt, the Muslim brothers in English, was more suspected as being a political religious movement. Also some popular Muslim legists and preachers were suspected.

In the western countries; severe actions were taken towards the Muslims. They prevented the veiled girls from going to their schools or their work. They also prevented them from building minarets of mosques, masjed. They even suspected the Muslim visitors who come to their country. Our Islamic institutions proved its disability of facing and solving this defamation, which make the situation worse. Instead of being the Arab Islamic institutions a means to solve the problem, it became a new problem or even an obstruction.

The increasing enmity towards Islam in the western and eastern countries caused another reaction from the extravagant Muslims. They became more extravagant, the sectarian became more power, seditions began to appear between the other religions, where is the true moderate Islam? Where are the true moderate believers?

Extravagance appears when there is no moderation, intolerance appears when there is no justice, and when justice is absent; the society will be a huge mess full of insurrectionists. When there is no true knowledge, ignorance appears and grows fast to destroy the whole society.

What we really need is to think deeply to appreciate the important role of the religion in preserving, developing, and improving the community. We really need to understand the true Islam and its principles that call for moderation, tolerance, love, altruism, development, freedom, democracy, respect, and justice.

This step is not such hard as some people might think; it doesn't need theories or plans.  It is so much simple. It just needs the good intentions and a group of true Muslims who will be able to represent the true Islam.

The true Islam has so much good principles that must be represented to correct the worst idea which was presented in the process of defamation of Islam. Islam calls for peace, good manners, love, and many other principles.
