There is a category of people who smile when they see you, but as soon as you leave; their hard features turn back, hard features that express a huge hatred, rancor and envy towards you. They praise you and may say poems of flattery for you, but in the same time they wish you to die. They pretend to love you and even love who loves you, but actually they are waiting to seize the opportunity to stab you in back.
They pretend that they try to comfort you and stand by your side in calamity, but actually they are so happy to see you suffering. They pretend to help you and cry for you, they go and tell other people about your problem pretending to gather as much as people they can so they can defame you and your suffering. They call as much as people they can to watch you sufferings and they still pretend to support you and express their false sympathy for your pain.
This kind of people is more dangerous than fire. They are like a fox that acts like an innocent lamb till you secure it and then it will be able to attack you suddenly at any time. They are the spy who pretends to be your best friend, but actually he tries to know all your secrets. This kind of people applies to an Egyptian proverb that says: “to kill the victim and attend his funeral”.
This category of people is called “Hypocrites” in Islam. Islam warned us from them and their danger. Allah tells us in the Holy Quran: “the hypocrites will be in the lowest depth of the fire, no helper wilt thou find for them” (Sourat An-Nisa’ “the women”, translated by Yousif Ali).
The Islamic nation has suffered a lot of many hypocrites through ages, and they still work in secret to destroy the nation. And perhaps what has revealed by Wikileaks is considered as evidence that proves that some Arab regimes support Israel. Do you remember the hypocrite Arab president who told Israel about the time of October war?
On the social level, this type of people is wide spread in work, streets, and clubs causing so many social problems. The reason of such wide-spread in community is the absence of values and principles of fair competition. When justice, principles, moral values and fair judgment all are absent, thus the law of jungle appears, people will act like beasts and monsters, their tongues would be like the snakes’ ones; quickly go out and bite.
There are different types of smiles, a sincere true smile that directly penetrate the heart, and the malicious one that hides behind hatred, jealousy and envy. And also there is the ironical smile that precedes the sudden attack. A poet once says: if you saw the lion’s teeth, don’t think that it smiles.
On the political level, this type is very common, because policy is originally the game of lies and masks. Politicians smile to each other pretending to love each other, and when the party is over, every one go to continue their mission of plotting to get rid of the other. They assert that their main concern is the public interests, but in fact their only goal is their personal interests. They claim that there is the construction and progress of all countries, but actually they aim at its destruction. Policy is the art of concealing the truth, it shows some thing so far from its reality, the enemies are fiends and friends are enemies and what really matters is the personal interests.
There is a category of people who pretend to love Egypt, but they may not be so honest even if they swear on it. And even if they proved that they love this country; be careful they may be liars too. Even if they were Egyptians, the most serious tyranny is that which came from relatives and lovers. An Arab poet says: “the tyranny of relatives and lovers is more painful than the deepest wounds of swards.”
There is a news anchor that pretends to love Egypt and wrote a lot of comments on facebook about the events that were going on in Egypt during that time, but what she wrote was a strange mix of fake love, gloating, and silly jokes. And when she chose a song to express the state in Egypt, she chose the song of “The People of Cairo” that abuses the Egyptians. And if she considers her country and its people, she would discover how much her own people is victimized and ruled by a mere dictator system. If she considers the state of her country, she would respect the struggle of the Egyptians and the principles of their revolution. This situation should be a situation of respect and support. There are many countries that talk about their appreciation for Egypt and its role, but actually they do their best to destroy it.
This hypocrisy is not towards Egypt, but it is practiced against many countries that have certain abilities, such as political, social, or technical position and also the economic wealth. All these benefits and advantages evoke the feelings of hatred and envy.
Those enemies, despite the difficulty to identify them, appear in disasters that unveil them. Difficult situations enable us to know our true friends and who pretend to be our friends. An Arab poet says: “May God reward all the adversity the best. Through them I knew my friends and my enemies”.
Some people use criticism as a means to protect themselves. They use complicated terms and theories, like swindlers who embody the role of academic and the thief who wears the police uniform.
Some people claim being writers and begin their analysis, theory and criticism claiming that they are concerned by the public interest, but in the same time their aim is to stab you in back. At the first glance you see him, you think that he is a writer, a thinker, and a social critic, but actually he is a thief.
Be ware of such smart snakes that walk, drive, and work in offices. And be careful of foxes that wear masks to deceive you and make you think that they are innocent kitties. Don’t let the fine words deceive you and think well to know who are your true friends and who are your enemies.
