When talking about the identity of Egypt, of course it is an Islamic Arab state, the state identity is determined according to some geographical and historical facts and also according to the identity of people themselves.

Being an Islamic Arab state does not mean ignoring of the other element of the Egyptian society. It does not mean making little of our Christian brothers. But this identity was out of many factors as: the Egyptian history, and the population of the Muslims. The population of the Christians is 10% of the whole population. So, it was a natural result to have an Islamic identity. Logically, if the Christians were more the Muslims, we would welcome the Christian identity of Egypt.

 Some may think that the Christians in Egypt are minority, and I don't accept this word “minority “as it does not express the unity of the Egyptian society. The Muslim and the Christian citizen share every thing with each other, even the daily suffering.

Our Christian brothers are a very important part in our society and our partner in nationality that we can’t do without. According to the democratic system, there is no majority or minority, as every individual has his own value and effect. Any opinion is respected and the right one will be carried out even if it was the opinion of one person who himself is an opposition party. The real democratic system is which calls for the rights of both Christians and Muslims.

 Egypt is an Islamic state which consists of two elements, Christians and Muslims. It has an Islamic constitution and rules which are based upon the Islamic sharea . Not a state of intolerance.

Egypt is a home for Muslims, Christians and all beliefs. Egypt is a state of tolerance, Variety, the humanistic principles, and the honored civilization.

In addition, this great respect towards the Christians by Muslims, actually it is more than respect, and we can call it a belief in Christianity in spite of our radical differences. We, the Muslims, believe in Juses the Christ and the Virgin Mary, and there are many lines of the Holy Koran prove this. Is it enough to prove the Islamic respect for Christianity?

  Few weeks ago, my sister Fatima gave birth to a nice baby girl. She named her after the Virgin Mary. Now my sister has three kids: yousif , Mahmoud , and Mariam . You will notice that tree name of her kids are taken from the Jewish, Islamic, and Christian history successively which proves that the Egyptians respect all religions.

 God recommended us to treat our Christian brothers well. It is mentioned in the holly Koran.

The Christian culture is an important part of my own culture as a Muslim Egyptian.

And I really appreciate it. The Islamic culture also should be a part of our Christian brothers ' culture as well. So, I criticize these imaginary barriers between the two cultures and this exchanged ignorance about the religion affairs. I wonder why the churches do not give Muslims a chance to know more a bout Christianity. And why mosques do not give Christians a chance to know more about Islam.

The Egyptian Islamic identity may raise a little sensitivity for the others, or more definitely for a group or the others. And this is the nature or man that wants to appear and control to express it, especially in the Arab states which still confined in the frame of individualism. They are still not aware of the theory of the political speculative variety.

 But the Islamic identity of Egypt is a good proof for Christian and the others. The Christians have all the rights approved for all who believe in all religions. Such rights are equal to those in the Christian states, or even better. If we elevate our Egyptian nationality, we will not discuss the topics of being Muslims or being Christian, we all are Egyptians, so we are equal.

 We know that the Christians face some problems, so do the Muslims, but these problems are just social and political issues which both of them face. But there are others who want to break this unity claiming, for that Christians are persecuted here in Egypt, and it is very obvious that it is a big lie which every one knows its truth.

 It’s very strange that there are some people who call for the secularism of Egypt. They call for isolating Egypt away from being an Islamic Arab state. This is a racial call out of the man nature of to express himself. Away from the ill intentions and

Self –interests, it is a false call which has no logical and true motives. 90% of the population in Egypt is Muslims, so Egypt is on Islamic state. we mention it every time when we discuss some relative topics as " calling for repeal Religion in the ID " or "an attempt to turn the constitution into a secular one " Then , it sometimes becomes more than a civilized discussion that we welcome , it turns to be rudeness and incivility . The matter looks like when someone suggests a dress for your wife to wear.

 Egypt is an Islamic state with different races , who refuses this or wants to change it , will be considered as an assaulter who wants to get the most precious thing I have which is my identity as Egyptian  . And who calls for the idea of isolating Egypt away of its identity as an Islamic Arab country, is not a true Egyptian, whether he was Christian or Muslim. He wouldn’t be considered as an enemy at all, but we will discuss him and convince him by facts and proofs. And then he will realize that he was wrong. He looks like plowing the sea.
