The Divine Promise | Alamir Kamal Farag

I could never imagine that after 14 centuries, some one may fill with doubts towards the Holy Quraan, and malice wonder about how it was collected and written down. He also accused the prophet with oblivion. I could never expect that an Arab writer, who was rewarded with the Egyptian prize for writers, could believe in such heresies, which were mentioned in the old history books hundreds years ago, which claim that the Holy Quraan was quoted from Omaia Ben Abi-Alsalt.

I know that any normal man should pass through some phases in his life, in which he begins to ask about life, nature, and God. All these questions are normal and should be answered and explained with open-mind to help him to know more about religion. Man begins to ask these questions about the nature of life and creation during his childhood period. In this period, he begins to look around and consider every thing carefully and begins to ask his parents such questions of: how was I born? Why my mum’s belly is paunchy? Where is God, and many other questions of that kind. These inquires are the normal right of man. These questions enable man to think and know more about life and God, and then he will be more faithful. To get knowledge you need to ask, search, draw comparison between things, this leads to faith and believing in God.

What made me surprised is that these questions, of the Egyptian famous writer, were answered centuries ago. The Muslim scientists answered all the questions of the western oreiantalists undoubtedly. They also talked about how the Holy Quraan was appeared in the book form and how it was written down. This process, in spite of being a manual one, was very accurate without any mistake.

I was surprised because man, this weak creature, still has doubts and insists on his own philosophy against God. He claims that the Holy Quraan was of erroneously attributed origin. Instead of thanking God for his grace, the Holy Quraan, he makes doubts and inquires, which their aim are not to ask and gain knowledge, but to assault the religion itself. He doesn’t know how dangerous these deeds are, he doesn’t know how he will be punished by God.

In the old ages, the Arab culture was based mainly upon narration. Writing down was not familiar for them at these old times. Narrators kept poetry by heart, and this was the only means by which they could keep their heritage during an age when there were no pens nor papers were not known, on the contrary of the current ages when CDs are so much popular.

The Holy Quraan was written down for the first time in the reign of the Caliph Abo-Bakr and continued till the reign of the Othman Ben Afan. The process of writing down was controlled by severe procedure rules and great care that were never paid to any religion text before, neither Bible nor Talmud.

Talking about the Bible; there are many things that may raise doubts about it. For example; there are kinds of Bible: the Bible of Luke, the Bible of Manna, etc. there are some differences between them, for example; there are some texts that are found in one of them, and can’t be found in the other, also you may find some texts that don’t agree with the criterion of the normal ethics and the good manners that religion books should call for.

These differences were discussed by a controversy between the Muslim Ahmed Dedat and the American bishop Gemy Sogart. This discussion was about the incest and how the Bible dealt with this subject. This discussion asserted that there are many differences between the kinds f the New Testament. The discussion was concluded with the statement:” these Bibles are not the books of God”.

These differences can’t be found in the Holy Quraan. We have only one text of it which was accurately written down. I’m not going to discuss the how much the process of writing down the Quraan, I don’t want to explain in details these steps of revisions of the text, these steps were taught in universities about 20 years ago and still being taught. I will not say any thing about what was said by the oriantalists and their doubts of the Holy Quraan, simply because all these doubts were discussed and all their questions were answered by the Muslim masters.

I want to discuss some other factors that assert the trueness of the holy Quraan and abort any other attempt to create more doubts. Lets make our minds judge this case, we should think deeply about it, or it would turn to be an endless mess. We all agree that there must be a creator of this universe, as it is unbelievable that all this universe is of nothing, or out of a mere accident. We also agree that God created the universe for some definite reasons. So, lets contemplate the wonderful creation of this world, by only a quick look we will discover how much this world was skillfully created.

Lets contemplate and focus our concentration on the soil as an example. In the same soil; many different crops can be planted and grow side by side. It begins with a very small seed that gradually grows and develops to be a fruitful tree. This process declares the greatness of Allah and His great ability of creation. Thinking and contemplation help us to be more faithful.

Also lets contemplate the sequence of day and night, sun and moon; which really explain the great ability of Allah and the very accurate way by which He created the universe. Day and night have their exact time. Moon can never appear in the time of day and the sun can never appear in the time of night. Every thing is created by a great perfection.

This perfection will be an introduction, and a very important element, to speak about the Holy Quraan. Some may ask; how come? Let me say that; this highly perfected creation and this great correctness in which Allah created the universe, declare the great power of Him. Hence; He can do other simple deeds comparing with these great ones, like saving the Holy Quraan and keeping it the same from 14 centuries ago till for ever.

Of course Allah is able to make all people keep the Holy Quraan by heart. He can make them born keeping it by heart. It is very easy for Him to make us keep it exactly like when you keep some data in your computer. But Allah wanted both the Divine and the human wells work together to keep the Holy Quraan.

The moral element in the holy Quraan proves its correctness and credibility. The text of the Quraan implies many stories and lessons that all have a moral dimension, which proves that the Quraan can't be composed by man. It also proves that the Holy Quraan can't be distorted.

Distortion is a crime that is committed for a special purpose. Who commits this crime knows very well that he is doing a horrible deeds. Of course distortion aims to turn something good to something bad. Distortion may imply writing down a false immoral text that may permit robbery or something that is not allowed morally in general. So; distortion would be very obvious if it was committed in the text of the Holy Quraan, as all the text calls for moral good deeds without any contradiction at all, which proves the correctness and credibility of the Holy Quraan.

The holy Quraan implies many scientific facts that were proved by the scientific searches in the recent times. It implies some facts about the phases of forming the embryo, the nature of the earth and the atmosphere, and many other facts. Some may dispute and say that there is a big difference between science and religion, both of them has its own issues. And yes, that's right, but what if a religion text like Quraan discussed some scientific facts that were proved and discovered hundreds years after. These facts were mentioned hundreds years ago in the holy Quraan. We can only dispute if there were a fact that was discovered and contrasted with what was mentioned in the holy Quraan, which is something impossible.

The text of the holy Quraan is not a scientific report that talks only about facts and phenomena, but it is a holy scripture that contains God's commandments, and tells the Muslims what is allowed and what is not. It also speaks about the rules that should control the Muslim community. Living according these rules achieves God's bless upon all of us in our life and also in our afterworld. The scientific facts that were mentioned in the holy Quraan are another evidence that proves its correctness. To whom who dispute all the time that there is a great difference between science and religion; I say: yes we agree with you, but always by science we discover the greatness of the creator and believe more and more that the religion text is true.

Another element that proves the trueness of the holy Quraan that there is a sora that implies blame on the prophet. This sora describes the prophet's situation towards a blind man who came to his house: "The prophet frowned and turned his face. Because there came to him the blind man. But what would make you perceive, O Muhammad, that perhaps he might be purified. Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?". If the text of the holy Quraan were written by some one, the profit, of course he would never write a blame on himself to criticize himself and his acts, as no one can never criticize himself according to the nature of man.

This sora also asserts that the prophet is a normal man, inerrant sometimes and errant other timed. Also the miracles that were done by the prophet, which were mentioned in the books of history that talked about the prophet, assert the trueness of the holy Quraan.

Along the history, there were many lies about the distortion of the holy Quraan and being it stolen. These lies are always told in every where all the time about all fields. These lies can be told about books, PhD studies, business and trade works, or whatever. The point is that these lies are not told only on holy scriptures, there are always lies about every thing. But the holy Quraan is the only religion text that no one could suggest doubts to its trueness. On the contrary, all the inquiries and suspicions proved more and more its trueness.

We can't deny that the holy Quraan might be distorted by some one. It was said that a president had once tried to commit such sin, and also it was said that another attempt was committed by an extravagant sect who claimed that there is a special text of the Quraan which they called Fatima's Quraan. All of these are useless attempts of defamation Islam and its book the Holy Quraan. These evil attempts look like the small stones that can never stand in the way of the great river.

The process of writing down the holy Quraan was achieved by both God and man. The human role of this process was to write the text accurately and honestly under the supervision of Allah and his protection. Allah promised to keep, carefully and forever, the holy Quraan. And there is no promise might be true than God's promise. Allah told us in the holy Quraan: "we have without doubt, sent down the message; and we will assuredly guard it" (sorat Al-Hijr, ayah 9) it is the Divine promise to guard the holy Quraan and protect it from distortion and corruption.
