The Phoenix | Alamir Kamal Farag

Usual protests turn into a revolution; the phoenix finally rises from the ashes and singled his wings. Many voices resound into a roaring flood, like a bomb shaking buildings and thrones and its echo extends to many countries.

No one had imagined that some simple appeals made by some youth on facebook would turn to be a real revolution in the true sense of the word. No one had imagined that the prisoner might rebel against his warder and the situation change and the warder turns to be the prisoner and prisoner became the warder.

The young people, who led the 25th Jan revolution in Egypt, led Egypt to a new world. And within 5 days they were able to achieve what many peoples can not achieve in 100 years. They succeeded to stop the plan of hereditary that have existed and continue in full swing. They were eased by their success in making President Mubarak step down and also promise not to run for the presidency or any of his sons. He also pledged to amend the articles of 76 and 77 of the Egyptian constitution and determine the terms needed to run for presidency so it will be available for all. He also pledged to amend the article 88 which deals with the judicial supervision of elections.

The Egyptian youth have made a great change that will go down in history; they created a new world that it is hard to change. That emphasized the right of the peaceful demonstration. They became the true leaders instead of all rulers, ministers and people in change, now they are who make decisions.

They are simple people; students, workers, farmer’s girls, women, mothers and all are full of real patriotism. They were never considered before, they were always on the margin, but suddenly they stand up and share in the current event.

The price of freedom is so expensive and it can't be gained by only asking the governor. But it can be gained by the blood of martyrs, the poet says; “the freedom has a red door, redden by every hand tried to cross “.

In spite of the martyrs, material losses and in spite of what had happened of looting, chaos and destruction; the revolution has succeeded and finally the Egyptian people were able to impose their will.

Despite the risks that Egypt was exposited for during the time of the revolution, there still hope in the wise elder people to protect Egypt and preserve the fruits of the revolution, and to prevent any one tries to take their joy. They also hope to achieve safety again in Egypt.

The most beautiful thing in the revolution is that it is the revolution of the youth; parties have no role in it. The 25th Jan revolution is a pure Egyptian revolution held by the Egyptians by all classes and congregations. Although many tried to use the revolution for his own interests, but it will be recorded in history as: “the youth revolution “and nothing else.

And to achieve the fruits of the revolution, it should continue what it started, the constitution should be amended to ensues and grantee democracy, freedom and the dignity of every citizen. The military rule of the state institution should be ended. The corrupted government must be trialed the political pluralism and the freedom to form a political party must be affirmed. Every Egyptian citizen has the right to run for the presidency election.

We want to witness a true trial for every one tolerated in defending our homeland during that critical time. We want to witness a true trial for every one contributed in spreading chaos and exposing the country to danger. We want to exclude every one committed corruption or hypocrisy against Egypt to harm Egypt's good reputation. We need a new constitution that ensures the political pluralism, so no party will be able to exclude another. Every one, whatever their political, intellectual and religion thoughts, have the right to express their opinions freely and democratically, without any marginalization.

We ask for a new constitution that appreciates the value of citizenship, and makes no difference between Muslims and Christians, black and white, all are equal before law, and all are equal in this country. We want a constitution that limits the power of the president and increase the power of the state institutions. The new constitution must include an explicit provision about the “Attorney General " whose job will have the authority to trial the president and ministers , as what happens in America and the countries of the free world .

We want to found a new country where the different institutions have some power, and the president is just an employee who does his job for a definite time, and then replaced by another under free and fair election, in which votes are calculated by electronic means.

We want to leave the old Egyptian policy, the policy of passivity, and create a new policy that appreciates the dignity of the Egyptian citizen; we want to create a new policy that supports our rights and principles. We must stop repeating the diplomatic slogans that make no sense actually. We need a new diplomacy that supports the Egyptians and help them as mush as it can.

We hope that revolution turns to be a peaceful culture away from chaos and ill-use, a culture of signs, chants, songs, expressive paintings and arts. The right to express your opinion is a fundamental right and a necessity like air and water. A large space in Cairo should be specialized for being a “Hyde park of Egypt” and wide enough to conation at least one million citizens. We want to delete the term “political prisoner "   from our life.
