There are some people who mean to define culture according to certain limits and make it limited in only books and some other fields and specializations, they deal with culture as if it be some thing concrete that can be put in museums written under “no touch”. Intentionally, they want to order others what they should read and what they shouldn’t. They act as if culture was their own property, as if it were their heritage which they are proud of, and no one else has the right to talk about.

Away from all these definitions and complicated theories, culture is a plain experience of man in life, which means: wisdom, lesson, examination, etc. it can be uttered by an illiterate woman, for example, or by a primitive peasant. You may find it in proverbs or folkloric songs; it can be uttered by any one any where.

But some people insist on that culture has a strong connection with following the traditions, for example; the poet is considered to be cultured when he follows the rules of meter and rhyme of the ancient poetry. He also must be highly educated, has a number of literary works, and has the ability to speak, discuss, and dispute in the TV shows. If so; he is titled as a cultured man. If not; he will be repealed.

For many years, the official Arabic culture cared only for a specific class of cultured men, those who wear expensive suits and use expensive perfumes and speak beastly in TV shows. The normal layman was completely neglected; the cultured man of the middle class had no place. And as a result; a lot of men were prevented from their rights just because they didn’t have the chance to be highly educated and then cultured. Being so far from cities and capitals caused them being neglected, and as a result; culture became something like a private property of some people, and turned to be a mere boring song repeated all the time.

Culture is our treasure, a treasure for all people, not for a specific class that seizes and monopolizes it. Culture is like air; available for all.
